The verbs in this group of irregular verbs have the same forms for the simple past and the past participle.
NOTES:
1. The past participle is used with the helping verbs has and had, as well as with have.
2.Some authorities reject “snuck” as the past forms of “sneak,” but the form has a long history in American usage. Personally, I find “snuck” sneakier than “sneaked.” A word to students: probably not a word for a formal school assignment.
3. Some authorities like to distinguish between hang/hung/hung and hang/hanged/hanged. The -ed version is supposed to be reserved for the practice of execution. The executioner hanged the convicted murderer. Molly hung the photo above her desk.
