You can’t go wrong with this class of irregular verbs. All three principle parts (present, simple past, and past participle) are spelled the same and, with the exception of the verb to read, pronounced the same.
NOTES:
1. The verb “read” is pronounced with a long e vowel in the present, and with a short e sound in the two past forms.
2. The verb “bid” in this list is the one used in card playing, as in “I bid three hearts.” “Bid’ in the sense of “command” has the forms bid, bade, (have) bidden.
3. The past participle is used with the helping verbs has and had, as well as with have.
